EMDR Therapy
Trauma Treatment and PTSD
Connie is trained in EMDR for trauma and anxiety related disorders. EMDR stands for Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing. EMDR has achieved success as the most effective method for treating traumas that include anything from distressing past experiences to cases of full-blown PTSD.
EMDR therapy has been shown to be very effective in treating trauma:
Success rates between 80–90%.
In one study, 100% of single-trauma victims and 77% of multiple-trauma victims no longer had PTSD after six 50-minute EMDR sessions.
Another study found that 77% of combat veterans were free of PTSD after 12 sessions.
EMDR allows us to change our relationship with distressing memories without having to recount, relive, or be retraumatized by discussing all of the details of traumatic events. After therapy, there may still be an unpleasant memory, but your relationship to it is changed so that it is no longer experienced as trauma.
